Joan Marie Crites, 83, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday October 20, 2020 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

She was born January 19, 1937, in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and Harriett (Campbell) Sargeant, Sr.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Sargeant.

Joan was a secretary in the business office at the former Ohio Valley Hospital then she was a homemaker. She loved her crafts and butterflies.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years Robert R. "Bob" Crites, Sr., whom she married on June 1, 1957; a daughter, Kimberly Crites and her fiancé David "Mope" Boyd of Steubenville, OH; a son, Robert R. "Bob" Crites, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, OH; a brother, Edward (Freda) Sargeant, Jr. of Richmond, OH; a sister, Marilyn (Sam) Rotella of Wintersville, OH; four grandchildren, Tabitha, Kayla, Bobby and David Crites; and two great-grandsons, Briar Crites and Roland Rush.

Friends will be received on Friday at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. John Ater, officiating. Private interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction.
