James A. "Jim" Gorney, 84, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Friday November 1, 2024 at Liza's Place in Wheeling, WV

He was born November 2, 1939, in Weirton, WV a son of the late Joseph Gorney and Bertha (Riddle) Richards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Harold Richards; a brother, Ronald Gorney; and two step-brothers, Gene Richards and Dickey Richards.

Jim retired from Indian Creek School District where he was a teacher for 42 years. He was also the owner of J&J Art Studio and Framing in Mingo Junction. He enjoyed golfing and running on route 7 from Mingo Junction to Brilliant.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Joanne (Valuska) Gorney, whom he married July 8, 1961; a step-brother, Kevin Richards of Brookside, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

In following with Jim's wishes there will be no services. Private burial at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, OH.
