Jenkins, Jr.
April 23, 1931 – September 18, 2017
James C. "Ike" Jenkins, Jr., 85, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Monday September 18, 2017 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.
He was born April 23, 1931 in Weirton, WV, a son of the late James C. and Lucy (Six) Jenkins, Sr. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Orth, Betty Roberts and Nellie Taylor.
Ike was a truck driver for the former Nicholson Fine Foods then he retired from Steubenville Fruit. He served his country in the U.S. Army and received a Purple Heart for being wounded during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Surviving are his wife, Helen (Spencer) Jenkins, whom he married on October 11, 1954; a son, Jimmy (Tammie) Jenkins of San Angelo, TX; two daughters, Pamela (Clyde) Parks and Deborah Wheatley both of Mingo Junction, Ohio; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at 1:30 p.m., with Michael Gromczewski, officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens in Follansbee, WV, with Military Honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Squad.
