Obituary

Hilda (Monroe) Dear, 87, of Canton, OH passed away peacefully and unexpectedly Sunday March 26, 2017 at home.

She was born May 20, 1929 in Rayland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Howard and Ella E. Monroe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Seward L. Dear, Jr. on October 17, 2006; four brothers, Joseph, Melvin, Donald and James Monroe; and three sisters, Violet Lawson, Ruth Brown, and Connie Shreve.

Hilda graduated from Big Red High School in 1947 and has lived in Canton, Ohio since 1952, where she was a homemaker. She was a quiet, loving, strong, and very generous wife, mother, sister and aunt.

Surviving are her son, Mark Dear of East Canton, Ohio; a sister, Mary (John) Sloan of Steubenville, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Ralph Dear of Steubenville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral services at 12:00 p.m. (noon), with Pastor Sam Davis, officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
