Obituary

Gary Wayne Perdew, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him on Tuesday September 23, 2025 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH. Gary lived a life of hard work, perseverance, faithful love and dedication to his family.

Gary was born on August 12, 1948, in Denver, Colorado to Ralph Eugine and Shirley Faye (Ford) Perdew. His family moved to Council Bluffs Iowa in the early 50's home of Ford Dairy, the family business. In 1956 Gary's family moved back to Denver where Gary spent much of his life. Gary graduated from Lincoln High School and went on to become a master electrician for many years and eventually earned top positions in operations for government buildings.

Gary was married to his first wife Barbara for 24 years and raised two sons and a daughter. In 1990, Gary moved from Colorado to Dana Point California where a couple years later he met the love of his life, Linda. He met her in Anaheim CA at the Arrowhead Pond. Shortly before meeting Linda he had been appointed Chief Operating Engineer at the "Pond".  He opened this major sports arena in 1993 and was there until his health made it impossible to continue. Gary and Linda were married at the Pond in 1995. Linda brought with her two more daughters.

He and Linda moved back to Denver and eventually settled in Steubenville OH where they lived the final 8 years of their life together.

Along with the deep love Gary had for his family, he also had a love for animals. In addition to his own rescued kitties, he would feed birds, squirrels, racoons, deer and any other "critter" that wandered into his yard. His backyard in Colorado was a certified wildlife habitat, and he carried on that tradition in Ohio.

Gary is survived by his wife Linda (Nietzel) Perdew of 30 years; a sister, Nancy Wiggins; two sons, Don (Lisa) Perdew and Greg (Tracy) Perdew and three daughters, Halley (Charlie) Cimaglia, Angie Stout and Jenny (Tim) McFarland. Also, his twelve treasured grandchildren Layne, Chloe (Russell), Kyle (Katie), Amber, Michael, Justin, Lucas, Ethan, Parker, Leah, Stella and Sarah plus six great-grandchildren Carter, Ryker, Grady, Liam, Harvie & Ava.

Gary's greatest legacy was his love for his family. He will always be remembered for his integrity, encouragement, knowledge and wise advice for everyone.

Gary's family celebrated his life with him in his final days. No services are planned.

…Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
