Obituary

Emma Mae "Sis" Brannon, 97, of New Alexandria, OH, passed away Sunday March 12, 2023 at the Gables Care Center in Hopedale, OH.

She was born August 19, 1925 in Mingo Junction, OH, a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Bell) Roe, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband and best friend, John H. "Jack" Brannon, five sisters, Anna Margaret Clark, Jeanette Roe, Corolean Slivka, Katherine "Kay" Kolopajlo and Delores "Dee" Walker; and three brothers, Ralph Roe, Lawrence Roe, and Herbert Roe, Jr.

Sis was a retired waitress at the former Paddy's diner in Mingo. She was a member of the former New Alexandria Community Chapel where she was a trustee and taught Sunday School for over 50 years, she also attended the Georges Run Methodist Church and cooked for the Kan do Kids. She was a member of the Liberty Grange and set up displays at the Jefferson County Fair for many years. Sis was a Herald Star Community Star in 2005. She collected Toys for Tots for many years and cooked meals for the Buckeye Ruritan at the New Alexandria Grange Hall for many years.

Surviving are two sons, Donald L. (Penny) Brannon of New Alexandria, OH and Terry Brannon of Baytown, TX; a daughter, Jacqueline (David) Folkert of Kimbolton, OH; four grandchildren, Travis (Michelle) Brannon, Kristen (Jim) Light, Colleen "Lacey" Brannon and Cameron Abbott; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In following with Sis's request her body was donated to The Ohio State University for medical research.

Friends will be received on Saturday May 27th at the Georges Run Methodist Church, 1436 State Route 151, Mingo Junction, OH from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jimm Woods officiating. Private burial at New Alexandria Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to Wheeler Funeral Home, Brilliant.

Memorial contributions may be directed in her memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
