Obituary

Edward D. "Ed" Welch, 80, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Monday May 3, 2021 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH after a courageous three-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic and bladder cancer.

He was born November 4, 1940 in Steubenville, OH a son of the late Clifford and Josephine (Petrick) Welch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine A. "Geri" (George) Welch on March 18, 2018; a son, Craig Welch on August 15, 2019; a sister, Rita Welch; and a brother-in-law, Sam George.

Ed worked at Starvaggi Coal Co., Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. and Scott Lumber. After his retirement, he and Geri enjoyed being snowbirds in Myrtle Beach.  He was a social member of the Steubenville American Legion Post 33. Ed enjoyed watching his Pittsburgh sports teams and putting together jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving are a son, Brian Welch of Mingo Junction, OH; a sister, Carol (the late Jack) Howard of Mingo Junction, OH; a brother, Robert (Judy) Welch of Mingo Junction, OH; two sister-in-laws, Dora Snyder of Riverside, CA and Rose Marie (Lary) Arnett of Weirton, WV; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

At Ed's request there will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ed's memory to the TEAR Fund at Trinity Health System's Tony Teramana Cancer Center, 3204 Johnson Rd, Steubenville, OH 43952.
