Doris Jean Benedict, 84, of Mingo Junction, OH passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Lancia Villa Vista in Steubenville, OH.

She was born in Steubenville, OH on August 29, 1937, a daughter of the late Eldrid and Mary (Mozena) Crawford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert (Sharyn) Crawford; and three sisters, Leona (Charles) Petrosky, Beulah (Ronald) Carlon, and Virginia (Emil) Eger.

Doris was a graduate of Steubenville High School. After graduation, she was employed by Ohio Bell as a telephone operator. She received her nursing degree from Jefferson Technical College and was employed by Ohio Valley Hospital in the Special Care Unit. Doris enjoyed traveling many places while doing her genealogy research.

She is survived by her adoring husband and love of her life, Don Benedict; a son, Don Benedict Jr. of Mingo Jct. OH; a daughter, Tami (Loren) Hosterman of Wintersville, OH; two granddaughters, Erin (Sean) Moores, and Katie (Matthew) Emley; and four great granddaughters, Abigail Saffell, Harper Moores, and Maci and Quinn Emley.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Jct., on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and also on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of her funeral services at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Bill Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates. The family is requiring that masks be worn at the funeral home.
