Dolly R. Childers, 77, of Weirton, WV, received her healing and danced her way into Her Fathers arms on Thursday September 10, 2026, at WVU Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV.

She was born April 24, 1949, in New Martinsville, WV, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Marie (Thomas) Leasure. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Childers, Sr. on December 10, 2005; a son, Kevin Childers on November 22, 2021; and a sister, Wilma Parr.

A powerful prayer warrior and musician, Dolly spent the majority of her life leading people in Worship, bible study and prayer, like only she could do. As a self-taught pianist, Dolly spent her life using her talents in many area churches and she used her gift to teach others as a Piano Instructor at the Center of Music and Art until her retirement in 2006. She loved sharing the gift that God gave her with anyone that wanted to learn.

Dolly’s greatest accomplishment in life was her children and grandchildren. All three of her children spent the most beautiful time in her life leading worship as a team for many years. They will forever be grateful for all her sacrifices, making sure they had the best instruments, instructors and encouragement. She always did the same with her grandchildren. Always there to wipe a tear, give a hug, put you in your place, attend your events or slip you a $20, her love and generosity was unmatched. Nana was “the go to” when you needed her most. She will forever be remembered for her quick wit, ability to make you smile or shake your head, while reminding you to always eat dessert first.

She will be greatly missed by her two children, Dean Childers, Jr. and his wife Marquita Clyburn of Bethlehem, WV and Deana (Scott) Childers-Cline of Brilliant, OH; six grandchildren, Dean Childers, III, Sharayah Childers, Noah Childers, Faith Childers, Nathan Cline and his fiancé Emilee Jackson, and Jailyn Cline, whom she affectionately referred to as “Princess J”; a great-grandson, Jesse Wary; and three special nieces, Sabrina (John) Phillips-Tarr, Tina Phillips and Beth Padden.

The family would also like to thank two very special people who helped them give Dolly the best care ever, Lisa Fillinger and Kristy Airhart. You were a part of her closest circle and she loved you dearly.

A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Dean at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Weirton, WV.
