Dennis W. Zimnox, 67, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Monday December 17, 2018 in his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born April 9, 1951 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late Walter C. "Duke" and Genevieve A. "Jennie" (Zarych) Zimnox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David and John Zimnox.
Dennis graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1970. He started working alongside his dad at Zimnox Coal in 1971 and he is currently the President of Zimnox Coal.
He was an avid outdoorsman spending his time hunting, fishing, and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time at the cabin with his hunting buddies and being a member of both the G.K.L. Wildlife Association and the Mingo Sportsmans Club.
Dennis was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church; the Mingo Knights of Columbus Council #4361; and a charter member of the Brilliant Boat Club.
His culinary skills were enjoyed by many. He spent a lot of time cooking, canning, gardening and picking mushrooms.
Surviving are a son, Devon (Sara) Zimnox of Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter, Nicole Petrella of Steubenville, OH; a sister, Michele (Todd) Barnes of Toronto, OH; a granddaughter, Aliya Petrella; many nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved; his good friends, Nikki Cable, Robert Roush, Harry Fair, and Tommy Maffett; and his furry companion, Charlie.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction. On Friday there will be viewing at St. Agnes Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, celebrant. Private entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
On Thursday there will be a Vigil service at 4 p.m.
