Obituary

Carol L. Clevenger, 87, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away peacefully Thursday June 18, 2026 at home.

She was born April 23, 1939, in Leechburg, PA, a daughter of the late Darwin and Vada Mae (Neff) Burge, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Debbie Garnek and an infant Cherry Ann Clevenger; a brother, Darwin Burge, Jr.; and two granddaughter, Elizabeth Mazurik and Rachael Craft.

Carol will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family above all else. She had a quiet way about her and a heart filled with kindness. While Carol was a devoted homemaker, she was trained and worked as a telephone operator in Arizona and Steubenville. To help provide Christmas for her children, she and her mother, Vada, served as representatives for Toy Ladies, doing in-home parties. Carol was also an avid quilter for many years, and every quilt she displayed earned an award or ribbon. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, reading, and spending time camping with her family.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 68 years, Rodney Clee “Rod” Clevenger, whom she married on June 14, 1958; four daughters, Roddie (David) Mazurik of Marblehead, OH, Jodie Craft of Columbus, OH, Tammy (John) Verhovec of Pataskala, OH and Diana (John) Scott of Toronto, OH; a son, Tim Clevenger of Mingo Junction, OH; a son-in-law, Marc Garnek of East Springfield, OH; two brothers, Gerald (Susie) Burge and Richard (Brenda) Burge both of Mingo Junction, OH; a sister-in-law, Linda Burge of Mingo Junction, OH; eight grandchildren, Mandy Braccini and her partner Eddie Fletcher, Barbara Mazurik and her fiancé, William Temple, Brock Craft, Joshua Braccini, Anthony (Jackie) Scott, Carol (David) Heckler, Caroline Scott and Logan Galbraith; and four great-grandchildren, Hayden Lindsey his fiancé Candyce Sharrock, Nora Fletcher, Owen Temple and Calum Temple.

Friends will be received on Saturday June 27th at Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant from 12:00 p.m. until the time of her funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Kenny Kourim, Jr., officiating.
