Burlene R. Hoagland, 84, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Friday August 15, 2025 at home.

She was born October 30, 1940 in Woodsfield, OH, a daughter of the late Burlen and Freda L. (Walters) Bates. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard E. Hoagland; her second husband, Charles "Babe" McEndree; a son, Allan L. Hoagland; and her sister, Darlene Roe.

Burlene was a homemaker. She was a member of Rosemont Chapel, the Brilliant American Legion Auxiliary, the Eastern Star in Panama Canal Zone and her Bunco Club. She also enjoyed bringing the spirit of Christmas to children each year by dressing up as Mrs. Clause with her nephew Lawrence Roe.

She is survived by her husband, Edward "Eddy" Wittmer; three sons, Richard D. (Robin) Hoagland of Wakefield, VA, Frank B. (Darla) Hoagland of Adena, OH and Matthew P. (Kristie) Hoagland of Rayland, OH; and seven grandchildren, Maya Hoagland, Richard D. Hoagland, Jr., Shawn Hoagland, Joshua Hoagland, Lucas Hoagland and his fiancé Lizzy Martin, Rachel Hoagland and her fiancé Harvey Jeffers and Abigail Hoagland. She was honored to have nine great-grandchildren, with another on the way.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, OH, on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and also on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Raymond J. Cooper, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, OH.
