Barbara J. Kovach, 84, of Brilliant, OH passed away Friday November 10, 2017 in the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, Ohio.

She was born September 9, 1933 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a daughter of the late Herbert W. and Elizabeth (Kovach) Cornelius. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Cornelius.

Barbara was retired from Western Southern Life Insurance where she was the head cashier. She was a member of the Brilliant Presbyterian Church where she was a former choir member. Barb enjoyed mentoring young kids at Hills Elementary School in Mingo and she also enjoyed working out in her yard and knitting.

Surviving are a sister, Cindy (Tim) Smearman of Brilliant, OH; a niece, Susan Ruiz of St. Clairsville, OH; a nephew, Chad Smearman and his companion Sammi James of Brilliant, OH; two great-nieces, Madison Ruiz and Shelby Green; and a great-nephew, Devon Bailey.

Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant. On Tuesday there will be viewing at the Brilliant Presbyterian Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at Noon, with Pastor Kenn Sickle, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, Ohio.
