Obituary

Alvina A. Saunders, 83, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Saturday September 24, 2016, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, Ohio.

She was born September 10, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Piaoli) Butta. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine "Katie" Sells and Josephine Potenzini.

Alvina was a retired waitress at the Green Mill Restaurant in Steubenville and a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.

She is survived by a son, Alan (Susan) Saunders, Jr. of Worcester, Massachusetts; a brother, Rico Butta of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Connie Mosko of Mingo Junction and Isabelle McCullough of Steubenville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Alvina M. Duffy, Edwina Lynn Duffy, Alan W. Saunders, III and Adam M. Saunders; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction. On Wednesday Alvina will Lay in State at St. Agnes Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. James M. Dunfee, celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.

There will be a Vigil Service on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m.
