A. Jean Shields, 94, of Brilliant, OH passed away Thursday December 20, 2018 at Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, WV.

She was born January 30, 1924 in East Springfield, Ohio, a daughter of the late Victor and Garnet (Baker) Weals. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, C. Lowell Shields on Dec. 21, 2014; a brother, Carl Weals; a half-brother, Victor Weals; a half-sister, Mary Ellen Burris; and a great-grandchild.

Jean was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the former Brilliant Fire Department Auxiliary and she ran the former food pantry at the Brilliant United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons, David (Deb) Shields of Bremen, OH and Curtis (Linda) Shields of Ostrander, OH; a daughter, Carla Shields of Wintersville, OH; a granddaughter, Celeste (Mark) Dotson of Pataskala, OH; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Wednesday December 26th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John D. Ater, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH.
