Richard A. Fleming

Richard A. Fleming, 85, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away Thursday June 13, 2019 at home.

He was born February 12, 1934 in Mather, PA, a son of the late James S. and Joanna (Shell) Fleming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Fleming; two brothers, James and George Fleming; and three sisters, Anna Thistlethaite and Genevieve Juvanialle and an infant Lavone LaRue Fleming.

Richard was a retired Math teacher from the former Buchanan Junior High School in Wintersville and he was also retired from the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Coke Plant in Follansbee, WV where he worked for 30+ years.  He served his country in the U.S. Army. Richard enjoyed model trains, Christmas and the beach, especially Daytona Beach.

Surviving are his wife Audrey (Williams) Fleming, whom he married on September 3, 1957; a son Richard Alrend (Jenna) Fleming of Edgewater, FL; two daughters, Amy Sciarra and Annette Fleming both of Mingo Junction, OH; a daughter-in-law, Billie Jo Fleming of Steubenville, OH; twelve grandchildren, Kristy (Ryan) Garman, Faith (Justin) Townsend, Jennifer (Gary, Jr.) Swanson, Tiffany Fleming, Brandy (William) Hutchinson, Amber, Casey and Jason Fleming, Fred (Tasha) Bay IV, Ashlea (fiancé Galen McGhee) Sciarra, Kimberly (Brad) Jones, and Elizabeth (Joe) Cutri; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction.
