Michael D. “Mike” Leas, Jr, 79, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away peacefully Wednesday February 20, 2019, at home.
He was born April 3, 1939 in Georges Run, Ohio, a son of the late Michael “Detric Leas, Sr. and Mildred O. (Glasow) Leas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Randy Leas.
Mike and his wife Jackie were the former owners of the Recycling Center in Mingo. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp and was Methodist by Faith. He was a member of the GKL Sportsman Club and the former Knights of Pythias in Mingo. Mike enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his wife, Jackie (Del Gallo) Leas, whom he married March 16, 1963; a son, Michael D. “Micky” (Lori) Leas, III of Wintersville, OH; three granddaughters, Kaitlin (Christian) Whanger, Brianna Leas and her companion Mike Keller and Desire Leech and her companion Brian Morgan; and three great-grandchildren, Arya Whanger, Bryson and Eden Morgan.
Friends will be received to celebrate Mikes life at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction on Thursday February 28th from 5-7 p.m. Private interment at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction.
