George A. Dayton, 69, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Tuesday December 3, 2019 in the Laurels of Steubenville.
He was born October 16, 1950 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Elmer E. Dayton and Cora O. Dayton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L.Dayton and Elmer Dayton; and a sister, Shirley Dayton.
George was a retired truck driver and enjoyed tinkering with cars. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his longtime companion of 20 years, Ethel Stevens of Brilliant, OH and her four children, David Devore, Jr. of Brilliant, OH, Rose (Pat) Doyle of Columbus, OH, Carolyn (Neil) Parr of Brilliant, OH and Heather Stevens of Wintersville, OH; a sister, Ruth; a sister-in-law, Van Dayton of Canton, OH; a niece, Elizabeth Dayton; a great-nephew, Dustin Plotts; and two special cousins, Sylvia and Judy.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St. Brilliant, OH on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. There will also be viewing on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Mike Renforth, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, OH with military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
