Daniel J. “Danny” Petrella, 87, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Saturday April 28, 2018 in his home.
He was born July 14, 1930 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a son of the late John and Josephine (Filalo) Petrella. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Daniel K. Petrella; five brothers, John, James “Sassy”, Mario, Frank and Louis “Geno” Petrella; and a sister, Lucy M. Stanic.
Danny was retired from the mechanical gang at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan, enjoyed fishing and loved his granddaughters, Heather and
Hannah Ross.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy (Hudson) Petrella, whom he married on February 3, 1951; a daughter, Kim Ross and her husband Howard of Mingo Junction, OH; two brothers, Riggie (Shirley) Petrella of Mingo Junction, OH and Anthony “Pinky” Petrella of Florida; and four grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, where his funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Bullard, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
