D. William “Bill” Hoyt, 90, of New Alexandria, Ohio, passed away Monday February 25, 2019 in the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.
He was born March 22, 1928 in Woodland, WV, a son of the late Sampson D. and Alice (Waters) Hoyt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife, Virginia O. “Ginny” Hoyt; an infant son, David N. Hoyt; a brother, Sampson “Dale” Hoyt; and two sisters, Susan McFee and Phyllis DeCamp.
Bill was a ladle liner for 40 years retiring in October of 1989 from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a member of the New Alexandria Methodist Church; the Steelworkers on Active Retirement Union #1190 in Steubenville; and an avid golfer.
Surviving are two sons, William J. (Candy) Hoyt of Weirton, WV and Clayton Hoyt of New Alexandria, OH; a daughter, Virginia Quinn of Springfield, VA; eight grandchildren, Marlene (George) Oller, Charlene (Gerald) Wolpert, Rachael (John) Mozek, Billie Jo (Jeff) Dalfol, Chris (Heather) Hoyt, Matt (Amber) Hoyt, Casey Hoyt-Brown and Rob Bartley; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant where his funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jimm Woods, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
