Thomas J. “Monk” Potenzini, Sr., 87, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Friday April 6, 2018 in the emergency room at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.
He was born October 28, 1930 in Mingo Junction, Ohio a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Felo) Potenzini. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas J.”Pote” Potenzini, Jr.; four brothers, Joseph, Jr., Chester, Fred and Robert Potenzini; and three sisters, Dorothy Potenzini, Eleanor Gump and Marcella Potenzini.
Tom retired in 1992 from the Railroad Department at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church; the Mingo American Legion Post #351; and a 4th degree member of the Mingo Knights of Columbus Council # 4361 which he helped build.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores (Santangelo) Potenzini; two sons, Mark Potenzini of Mingo Junction, OH and Stephen (Clair) Potenzini of Wintersville, OH; a daughter, Robin (Bill) Magnone; two brothers, Edward “Bibo” Potenzini of Mingo Junction, OH and Frank (Josette) Potenzini of Steubenville, OH; two sisters, Mary Louise (Mike) Boka and Norma (Wayne) Pickford, both of Mingo Junction, OH; five grandchildren, Breanne, Gina, Alyssa, Renee and Antonio; and a great-granddaughter, Delaney.
Friends will be received at St. Agnes Catholic Church on Wednesday April 11th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Thomas Magary, as celebrant. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo, with Military Honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Squad.
