Shirley McKinstry

The Lord welcomed Shirley McKinstry into His heavenly garden on Monday May 23, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  

This beautiful woman served God and her community by being the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend anyone could hope for. She was kind and generous with her time and talents. She tended those in her garden with patience, encouraging them to grow and bloom in their own special way.

Shirley was born in Brilliant, Ohio on August 15, 1928 to Basil and Dorthea Moffatt. She was blessed with 2 sisters; Betty (Charles) Spencer and Marjorie (Robert) Obermann. When her mom died too soon, Shirley was blessed with a new mom, Helen, and two more sisters; Jackie (Carl) McGough and Pat (Don) Toote. They were all there to greet Shirley as she entered The Garden.

Also there to greet Shirley were special mother-in-law, Grace McKinstry, dearly loved granddaughter, Michelle McKinstry, many wonderful friends and canine companions; Princess, Heidi Ho and Angel.

Shirley was so blessed to have as her life-long love, husband of 68 years, Charles McKinstry. She raised four very lucky children; Susan (Ed) Spencer, Bruce McKinstry Sr., Pam (John) Zorbini and Nina (Carl) McHugh. She will be dearly missed by daughter-in-law Monica, 8 grand-children; Kathy, Lynn and Patty, Bruce Jr., Kristen and Charles and Angela and Scott, as well as their spouses, children and grandchildren.

Shirley never wanted a "big fuss" to be made over her, so the family and her church family are hosting a "little fuss" to celebrate her life and the impact she had on their lives. You are welcome to join them at Brilliant Presbyterian Church for a memorial service, on Sunday May 29th at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Kenn Sickle, officiating.
