Richard M. “Rich” Pflugh, 81, of Rush Run, OH, passed away Monday January 22, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 18, 1936 in Rush Run, OH, a son of the late Neil and Pearl (Fithen) Pflugh. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Neil “Did” and Joe Pflugh; and two sisters, Drucilla Torok and Grace Mellott.
Rich worked for 62 years out of Laborers Local 809, where he started out as a laborer and retired as the secretary/treasurer of the Union. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Ohio Laborers District Council Retiree Committee; the Brilliant Christian Church; the Smithfield Masonic Lodge Lodge #182; the Mingo Sportsman Club; and the Indian Club in Tiltonsville. Rich was also an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Sylvia (Barnhart) Pflugh, whom he married Sept. 25, 1965; four children, Christina Ornouski of New Athens, OH, Tonia (Vincent) Tweedy of Rayland, OH, George (Andrea) Pflugh of New Alexandria, OH and JR Pflugh of Mingo Junction, OH; a brother, Sam (Mary) Pflugh of Mingo Junction, OH; two sisters, Sarah Coss of Rush Run, OH and Ella Saxton of Rayland, OH; eight grandchildren, Timothy, Anthony and Joseph Stine, DeAnnja Takach, Brandi Tweedy, Samantha Pflugh, Jared Pflugh and Mahlon Shields; and twenty seven great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, where his funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Kenny Korium, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery, with military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Squad.
There will be a Masonic Service on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
