Mary E. Tootsie (Vudrogovic) Shively

Mary “Tootsie” (Vudrogovic) Shively, 80, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Tuesday December 20, 2016 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio.

She was born March 23, 1936 in Mingo, Ohio, a daughter of the late Eli and Mary (Munis) Vudrogovic. In addition to her parents Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Shaw; and a brother-in-law, Jan Newman.

Mary worked for over 50 years as a pharmacy tech at Grays Drugstore and Arnas Pharmacy in Steubenville, Ohio until her retirement at age 76. Serbian by Faith, and a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Tootsie enjoyed baking and sharing her goodies with everyone especially during the Christmas season. She was known for her nut bread and nut cookies. Mary was incredibly giving to people who were less fortunate. She was very kind to others bringing her children up with the motto, “do not judge others until you have walked in their shoes and experienced what they have”.

Surviving are her husband, Robert L. Shively, Sr., whom she married on May 10, 1958 a son, Robert L. (Laynette) Shively, Jr. of Uhrichsville, OH; a daughter, Cheryl (Steve) Hay of Hilliard, Ohio; a brother, Robert (Samantha) Vudrogovic of Sherman Oaks, CA; a sister, Gloria Newman of Thurmont, MD; a brother-in-law, Major Carl Shaw of Danville, VA; and two grandchildren, Derrick Hay and Danielle Shively.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, where her services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Kenn Sickle, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo.
