Margaret D. "Marge" Porter

Margaret D. “Marge” Porter, 87, of Brilliant, OH passed away Thursday February 1, 2018 in the Villa Vista Nursing Home in Steubenville, Ohio.

She was born September 1, 1930 in St. Clair, PA, a daughter of the late George A. and Anna B. (Schargo) Motto. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Porter on July 17, 2007; six brothers, George, Steve, Martin, Vincent, Lawrence and Brother Anthony “Phillip” Motto; and three sisters, Florence Ontko, Mary Ontko and Dorothy Toucher.

Margaret grew up in Toronto, Ohio and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She moved to Brilliant in 1954 after her and her late husband Donald Porter were married. After relocating to Brilliant she became a member of the Former Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church until its doors closed; she then joined the Brilliant Christian Church. Margaret was a retired clerk at the former Kresge Department Store in Steubenville.

She is survived by three sons, David D. (Dania) Porter, James D. (Janet) Porter and Robert L. Porter, all of Brilliant, OH; three grandchildren, Ashlee Porter, Elizabeth Porter and Andrew Porter; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Logan.

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Sunday from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. and also on Monday from Noon until the time of her funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John D. Ater, officiating. Interment will follow at New Alexandria Cemetery.
