Louis “Lou” “Commando” Angelica, 89, of Mingo Junction, OH, passed away Sunday October 8, 2017, just five days shy of his 90th birthday, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.
He was born October 13, 1927 in Mingo Junction, OH, a son of the late Luigi “Louis” and Margherita (Romano) Angelica. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Angelica, whom passed away January 16, 2007; a brother, Daniel Angelica; and two sisters, Ann Graves and Evelyn M. Davis.
Lou retired in 1991 after 41 years from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp, where he was a conductor on the railroad. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Steubenville American Legion Post 33 and Prime Time. Commando was an avid golfer, and enjoyed gardening, music and dancing.
Surviving are a son, John (Janet) Angelica; a daughter, Judy A. Burriss; a brother, Richard (Rose) Angelica, all of Mingo Junction, OH; a sister, Rose Haysler of La Quinta, CA; three grandsons, Jason (Michelle) Angelica, Matthew (Aly) Burriss and Jared (Meghan) Angelica; and two great-grandchildren, Ben and Reagan Angelica.
In following with Lou’s wishes there will be no viewing. Private service and burial at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo, with Pastor Connie Quinn, officiating.
