Jerry A. Minor, 72, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Monday September 19, 2016 in his home.

He was born March 25, 1944 in Irondale, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard B. Minor; his step-mother, Sara Minor; a daughter, Julie Minor; four brothers, Virgil, Ralph and Bob Minor and an infant; and two sisters, Mary Christy and Barb Murvine.

Jerry retired in 2006 from Weirton Steel Corp, where he was a millwright and line operator. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force completing two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, the Independent Steelworkers Union and the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church. Jerry loved going to auctions with his best friend Jim Means; refinishing furniture; watching his kids sporting events; and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen “Kitsy” (Brettell) Minor, whom he married September 27, 1985; seven children, Jerry A. Minor, Jr. and his fiancé Annmarie Alogzino of Hampton Bays, NY, Kelly Mankowski and her wife Nancy Rivera of Orlando, FL, Kris (Dave) Stevens of Groveland, FL, Matthew (Crystal) Minor of Chicago, Illinois, Michael (Lisa) Minor of Irondale, OH, Tyler Minor and Cody Minor, both of Mingo Junction, OH; two brothers, John (Peg) Minor of Irondale, OH and Dale (Sandra) Minor of East Liverpool, OH; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Barbara Brettell of Mingo Junction, OH; a sister-in-law, Robin (Don) Brockway of Steubenville, OH; many nieces and nephews; a very special great-niece, Julie Brockway; and his furry companions, Colbie, Cassie and Clyde.           

Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction, on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. On Friday Jerry will Lay in State at the Mingo First United Presbyterian Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kenn Sickle, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, with military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Squad.
