Glenda A. Tate, 67, of Colerain, Ohio formerly of Brilliant, OH, passed away Friday February 23, 2018 in the Acuity Hospital at Weirton Medical Center.
She was born June 28, 1950 in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Glennister A. and Mary E. (Smith) Blanchard, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Gerald R. Thornton.
Glenda was a nurses aid for 30 years. She was a member of the Mingo and Hopedale Sportsman Club.
Surviving are her second husband, John A. Tate, Sr, whom she married June 21, 2003; a son, Gerald R. (Sara) Thornton, II of Brilliant, OH; a daughter, Mary A. (John) Mackey of Mingo Junction, OH; a step-daughter, Jennifer Hunt of Vienna, WV; two step-sons, John (Darla) Tate, Jr. of Hatfield, WV and Jim Tate of Harrisville, OH; two brothers, Rex Blanchard and his companion Violet Haines of Mingo Junction, OH and Glennister A. (Kathy) Blanchard, Jr. of Harrisburg, PA; four grandchildren, Megan, John, Issac and Sherri; two step-grandchildren, Jodi and Daniel; a great-granddaughter, Allison; and a step-great-granddaughter, Brittlind.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. and also on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at Noon with Rev. Harry Croft, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family to offset some of her medical bills from her extended hospital stay.
