Fred R. Horner, 76, of Bloomingdale, Ohio passed away suddenly Tuesday June 21, 2016 at home.
He was born September 1, 1939 in Burton, WV, a son of the late William H. and Bessie May (Ebert) Horner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Paula Mae (Hipkiss) Horner; a brother, Paul Horner; and a sister Jane Barnes.
Fred served his country in the U.S. Marines. He retired from Wheeling Lake Erie Railroad. He was a member of the Mingo Sportsman Club, GKL Wildlife Assoc., Jefferson Sportsman Club, Trappers Association, Pine Valley Sportsman Club, and the Wintersville American Legion Post 557.
Surviving are three children, Linda Diequez of Wintersville, Ohio, Fred Horner, Jr. of Wintersville, Ohio; Debra (Greg) Deuley of East Liverpool, Ohio; five grandchildren, Ranell (Walter) Kitchen, Nicole Horner, Kristie Deuley, Ashley Horner and Justin Horner; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ray (Sherri) Horner of Steubenville, Ohio and Jack (Debbie) Horner of Wintersville, Ohio.
Friends will be received at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo on Friday from 2:00 until his Military Honors by the Wintersville American Legion at 4:00 p.m. and also from 6:00 p.m. until the time of his services at 7:30 p.m. with the Mingo Sportsman Club Service and Tim Buchanan, officiating. Private interment at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
