Donald L. Hoover, Sr.

Donald L. Hoover, Sr., 82, of Wintersville, OH, passed away Saturday March 18, 2017, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

He was born Nov. 28, 1934 in Mingo Junction, OH a son of the late William E. Hoover Sr. and Hazel (Degenhardt) Hoover McCombs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. Hoover, Jr. and Ronald L. Hoover, Sr.

Donald retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp., where he worked as a Railroad Engineer and he served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Donald was a former member of both the G.K.L. and Mingo Sportsman Clubs and also the Honda Goldwing Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, woodworking, riding his motorcycle and being on his computer.

Surviving are his wife, Jo Ellen Churchill of Wintersville, OH; a son, Donald (Cathy) Hoover, Jr of Mingo Junction, OH; two daughters, Cathy (Mike) Groves of Jacksonville, FL and Rhonda (Mike) Quinn of Mingo Junction, OH; a sister, Linda (Ken) Potenzini-Hartley; seven grandchildren, Brandon (John Davis) Groves, Chase Groves, Chelsea Groves, Jonathan (Hollie) Hoover, Phillip Hoover, Kaitlyn Hoover and Ciera Hoover; and four great-grandchildren.

In following with Donald’s wishes there will be no services. He will be buried at New Alexandria Cemetery.
