Donald A. 'Pickle' Fithen

Donald A. “Pickle” Fithen, 80, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away Tuesday May 17, 2016 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio.

He was born December 15, 1935 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a son of the late George and Rose (Diorio) Fithen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mary (Nolan) Fithen in 2006.

Pickle graduated from Mingo High School in 1953 and was a retired foreman from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp.. He was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church; the Mingo American Legion Post #351; and the Mingo Knights of Columbus, Council #4361. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Browns fan.

Surviving are three sons, Donald E. Fithen of Steubenville, OH, Edward P. (Lisa) Fithen and Michael G. Fithen, both of Mingo Junction; two daughters, Mary Kay (Bill) Fogle of Fulshear, TX and Margaret (Tim) Thompson of Jacksonville, AL; a sister, Joann (Art) Vecchione of Steubenville, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Billy, Blake, Jeffrey, Daniel, Taylor, Alexis, Jennifer, Kelli, Timothy, Matthew, and Michael II; and five great-grandchildren. He will be missed by cousins, nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

Friends will be received on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 101 Longview Ave., Mingo Junction and on Saturday at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mingo Junction from 9:00 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass with Liturgy at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Fr. James M. Dunfee, as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville.

There will be a Vigil Service on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
